Today’s post is about a few of my better finds from the last three months. Not included is my awesome find from July 29th (1884 dime/love token). I hope you checked out my previous post on that one-of-a-kind find, but if not here’s a link.
Most of this post is going to be photos with captions, so without further ado, here we go:
Left: typical Zippo lighter. Right: A Zenith lighter (made in Japan, probably in the 1960’s). This probably would have had an advertisement around the barrel. Please see my previous post on lighters here.
This LaFrance salt shaker is from the 1930’s-1940’s. It’s about six inches high, and would have been silver-plated. Salt shakers are also included in the same post as the lighters.
Found this mid-1800’s pewter syringe while doing some creek detecting. My guess is that it was probably used to dispense medicine to cattle or horses.
Two more whole crotal bells to add to my collection. To read my original post on Crotal Bells, click here.
Left: Sterling silver religious medallion that is probably modern. Right: Military bridle rosette from the early 1900’s. Size is slightly larger than a silver (US) dollar.
Two of my better coin finds recently. On the left: 1916 Barber dime in excellent condition. 1916 was the last year for Barber dimes. On the right: 1810 half-cent. It is by far the lowest minted coin I’ve found, with a mintage of 215,000, which is a quarter to a tenth of the usual mintage for most coins.
